Relative and Fictive Kin Recruitment

JFS Richmond's Connecting Hearts program applied to the Virginia Department of Social Service (VDSS) and was granted the Relative and Kin Recruitment for Youth in Foster Care contract. We were awarded three years ending in 2026. The agreement aims to collaborate with the local social services departments at DSS to place youth residing in congregate care or non-relative care with relatives or fictive kin to support timely reunification and permanence.

Goals

Create a genogram with at least 80 relatives

The child is placed in the home within 90 days

90 days post services are provided to the family
