Meet Our Summer Interns

June 23, 2026 By Colton Wood Leave a Comment

JFS Richmond is proud to welcome three outstanding Master of Social Work (MSW) interns from Virginia Commonwealth University to our team this summer. Beuleatha Jones, Maddie McKay and Zach Hennessee will be supporting our Senior Engagement and Care Management programs, bringing energy, compassion, and a strong commitment to learning and service.

Throughout their internships, both students will work closely with older adults in our community, helping to foster connection, provide support, and enhance quality of life.

Beuleatha is currently pursuing her MSW at VCU, with an expected graduation date of May 2028. She is eager to deepen her understanding of the populations JFS serves and to learn how organizations like ours adapt to meet the evolving needs of older adults. Looking ahead, Beuleatha plans to continue her education beyond her MSW, with goals of earning a PhD in Mental Health or Counseling Psychology, becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and ultimately working as a psychotherapist.

Maddie, also an MSW student at VCU and graduating in May 2027, is passionate about building meaningful connections with seniors and understanding the challenges they face. During her internship, she hopes to gain a deeper, firsthand perspective on how nonprofit organizations support older adults, collaborate with peers, and connect clients to resources throughout the Richmond community. Maddie’s career goals include becoming an LCSW and practicing therapy, with a focus on group therapy and integrating mental health work with broader anti-oppression efforts.

Zach is also an MSW student at VCU, with an expected graduation date of May 2027. During his internship, he is looking forward to expanding his skills in engaging with clients in a professional care setting. Outside of work, he enjoys listening to blues and jazz music.

This summer, our three interns will contribute to both Senior Engagement and Care Management by assisting with programming, building relationships with participants, and learning the essential behind-the-scenes coordination that supports client well-being. Their work will help ensure that seniors in our community remain connected, supported, and empowered to live with dignity.

We are thrilled to have Beuleatha, Maddie and Zach join the JFS team and look forward to the impact they will make. Please join us in giving them a warm welcome!
