“Jay brings a wealth of experience in fundraising, marketing and community development.  He is a passionate advocate for the aging population and a respected educator, publisher and presenter on the topic in Richmond. We are excited he is part of the JFS team,” said Wendy Kreuter, Chief Executive Officer.

Jay comes to JFS from A Grace Place Adult Care Center where he has served as Chief Operating Officer.  Previously, Jay was Director of Professional and Community Development for the Department of Gerontology at Virginia Commonwealth University. Jay also has extensive non-profit leadership and marketing experience working with American Cancer Society and Richmond Riverfront Corporation.

Jay is a member of the Richmond Senior Network, the RVA Better Aging Forum, the Gerontological Society of America and the American Society on Aging. He is also an educator and regularly speaks on aging and healthcare related topics from LGBT and Aging to Person-Centered Care.

Outside of JFS, Jay serves on the Board of Directors for the Senior Center of Greater Richmond and the Virginia Culture Change Coalition. He was recently appointed by Governor Terry McAuliffe to the Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority. Jay is still deeply involved with the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Gerontology as an Adjunct Instructor.

Living in Richmond for the past 20 years, Jay graduated from Washington and Lee University with his BA in American History and completed coursework for an MA in American Studies from the College of William and Mary. Jay also has a Master of Science in Gerontology and Doctor of Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.  He and his partner Chris, a teacher with Chesterfield County Public Schools, live in Bon Air with 6 cats and a dog.

To contact Jay White, call (804) 282-5644 ext. 277 or email jwhite@jfsrichmond.org.
