November is National Family Caregivers Month, a time to honor those who dedicate their lives to caring for others. At JFS Richmond, we’re proud to celebrate our incredible Care Aides like Burnita Robertson, whose compassion and commitment make a lasting difference in the lives of our clients.
Since joining JFS in 2018, Robertson has made it her mission to uplift and support those who need a helping hand. Her dedication shines through in everything she does.
“What I like about the company is they treat you like family,” she said. “You’re not just being treated as a worker. Everyone works as a team to get the job done. What I like about my job in general is being able to help those who can’t help themselves. Whatever they can’t do, I’m there to assist them. But at the same time, I’m helping them become independent and help them improve their way of life.”
With more than 30 years of caregiving experience, Robertson has seen firsthand how small acts of care can make a lasting difference. After a brief five-month leave in 2022, she returned to JFS again to serve her clients and community.
“I love what I do,” she said. “I’ve been doing this for over 30 years now. It’s rewarding as well—just being able to see the fruits of your labor and knowing you made a difference in someone’s life.”
Her passion for helping others began with distributing resources to help people better their lives, and today she continues that mission every day as part of the JFS Home Care team. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue growing her impact by becoming a Registered Nurse.
