Development and Communications Associate
Position Description: The Development and Communications Associate will support and work in collaboration with the Chief Impact Officer to implement fundraising, marketing, and communications strategies of Jewish Family Services.
The Development and Communications Associate will implement the communications and marketing strategies of JFS. The DCA creates and/or updates programs, agency and development materials (newsletters, social media posts, google posts, internal communications), maintains the JFS website via WordPress, social media outlets, and writes materials for internal and external audiences. The DCA is the lead for many stewardship and outreach activities, creates the JFS Annual Report and donor listing, and coordinates reporting for all NAP giving.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains donor database (eTapestry) record management and tax and thank you letters.
- Implements communications and marketing strategies for JFS.
- Produces monthly copy with photos and ads for The Reflector and 6-8 JFS online newsletters through Constant Contact.
- Updates programs, agency and development materials (brochures, newsletters, annual reports). Work with Graphic Designer on creation of new materials.
- Maintains website via WordPress, social media outlets, sets JFS social media calendar, creates local posts for FB and Instagram, and writes materials for internal and external audiences.
- Serves as coordinator for the production of development and marketing materials, including list development for annual fund direct mail, special events, donor recruitment, donor relations and retention.
- The DCA creates the JFS Annual Report and donor listing and prepares the comprehensive demographic overview for all of JFS’ programs annually.
- Is the key contact for both donors and Virginia Department of Social Services for confirming, processing, and getting the necessary certificates to donors for NAP gifts.
- DCA is a key contact for event logistics including researching options for event venues, hospitality, set up and volunteers. Key role for Annual Meeting each year, and other fundraising and stewardship events.
- Support the Chief Impact Officer and the JFS Team at Community Events and attends planning meetings as necessary. Takes photos at JFS events to post internally and externally.
- Other development activities, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years fundraising, non-profit, sales, donor focused, high-level volunteer management or social media experience.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, fun environment.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Computer literate and technologically proficient in MS Office and experience in database and graphics systems. E-Tapestry a plus.
- Social media experience required.
- Knowledge of Word Press, Constant Contact, and Canva preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Masters a plus.

Pay: $21.00 to $25.00 per hour

Experience:
1-3 years fundraising, non-profit, sales, donor focused, high-level volunteer management
Social media experience required.

Bachelor’s degree required in related field, Master a plus.
